Profesional Communications Assignments

During my senior year at WLC I took a class titled "Professional Communication." This class consisted of several assignments that were designed to integrate real world concepts and abilities pertaining to the business world. These assignments utilized the aspects of researching, writing, and public speaking in both group and singular atmospheres.

Technical Presentation

This assignment was designed to encourage us to work with material that was outside of our comfort zone and search for legitimate sources on the topics we researched. In addition to the challenge of working with very rigid and technical material, another obstacle that needed to be addressed was working in groups of four people. This meant that even more information had to be gathered and sometimes personalities clashed. This assignment taught me how to be better at learning information that was difficult to understand, and how to convey it to others in a way that made sense. Below are the outline and works cited page from the project.

Pursuasive Debate

This assignment involved gathering credible sources and using them to formulate an argument. I was tasked with finding arguments that supported drinking tea over drinking coffee. While anyone can argue, it takes skill to find credible sources to back up those arguments and form them in a way that inoculate against refutation. The outline and works cited page are listed below.

Proposal

For this assignment, I teamed up with classmate and Communications major Baxter Colburn to create a proposal for Wisconsin Lutheran College to create an emphasis in Sports Marketing as well as an emphasis in Sports Broadcasting. This proposal required us to gather information from people that would be relevant to turning the proposal into reality. This proposal combined the first two assignments by taking the technical wording and jargon that go along with learning the process of adding an emphasis, along with the persuasive side of convincing people that these additions are a necessary. The outline and works cited are listed below.
